The Cropped Bob
To put it bluntly: the cropped bob is extreme. It's not quite a pixie crop (below) nor a bob. Short all over, even with a heavily shortened blunt cut fringe, it's can only be worn by those who ooze confidence. Just look at Agyness Deyn's cropped, fringed bob (right). Attention grabbing, it's even far less subtle with peroxide blonde hair which I'm tipping as the best colour to wear it with.

Long-lasting lashes that blend perfectly with your own lashes. Comfortable, carefree round-the-clock glamour, week after week. You can shower, sleep, work out, even swim. Individual lashes are added to your top lashes only using a strong, safe glue.

Just like artificial nails, there is an initial charge for a "full set" of lashes. Then there is maintenance involved. You have to come back for "fill-ins" every 2-3 weeks for an additional charge. The time for fill-ins is very personal. Some people are a little rougher on their lashes than others, some grow faster than others, etc. We shed our lashes just like we do our hair so as we shed lashes and new ones grow in we need touch ups.

Can you wear mascara? It is recommended that you do not use it. There is an ingredient in the mascara deteriorates the bond. Most clients find that they do not need mascara. If you decide you need mascara, it must NOT be waterproof. Also, you must not use oil based products on the lashes, it will loosen the adhesive. You can easily find an OIL FREE eye make up remover.

Do NOT use any kind of eyelash curler on your set of lashes. If you feel your lashes are too straight to begin with you might consider have a lash perm before an application of lash extensions. Also, I recommend that if you have blonde lashes to definitely have them dye before an application of extensions.

Do not allow any water to come in contact with your new lashes for 2 hours after the procedure. Do not steam face, use steam bath, swim, or wash lashes with hot water for 2 days after the procedure. The adhesive takes 48 hours to set. Do not rub your eyes or lashes when washing your face. Be sure and use an oil-free facial cleanser. Gently pat lashes dry after cleansing.

Natural skin oils, rubbing, scratching and pulling lashes will shorten the life of your extensions.

The procedure takes 2-3 hours initially and then hopefully just around a half hour to an hour for touch ups.

Here is a picture of my very first client. On the left is what her natural lashes look like and on the right is with the lash extensions I applied. She is not wearing any mascara, she doesn't need mascara. The glue I used is black, so it helps to make her lashes look darker.

Extensions were first used by the rich and famous in the 1980’s when those crazy hairstyles could only be created with extra help. In those days, they were seen as just a fad. Little did they know that they would become so popular. You have seen them on stars such as Jennifer Anniston, Jennifer Lopez and Paris Hilton. You also may have noticed how every contestant on The Swan have longer hair when it is time for their reveal... it's hair extensions!
With hair extensions you can add volume, color, or length with ease. You can get hair extensions made from synthetic or human hair. Personally, I will only use 100% human hair. It is the best way to go. It gives you the ability to curl it (synthetic hair will melt), perm it or change the color if you would like. It looks the most natural and doesn't have that fake looking shine like synthetic hair does. Human hair is more expensive but well worth it.
Hair extensions are a lot of fun. They make your hair look gorgeous. You can wear Hairdreams for 4- 6 months, and Cinderella Hair for 3-4 months, depending on the strength and condition and texture of your hair. You may lose one here and there which is normal, but overall, they last for quite a while. You can swim in them, wear your hair up or down and they still look completely natural. Except for your friends, family and co workers who see you with short hair one day and long the next, no one will know you have them. Unlike the old "tracks", the hair extensions of today look very natural. They move like your hair. They are really amazing.

The method I use to apply hair extensions is called strand by strand fusion and it can be time consuming. It takes an average of 3 to 4 hours to apply extensions for a partial head which is most common. Then it takes an additional 1 to 2 hours for the cutting and styling process, depending on how long it is and if you want layers, etc. A full head can take 5-6 hours just to apply the extensions, then you factor in the cutting and styling time. The process can consume most of the day in cases of really thick, shorter hair. So it is good to be prepared to spend a lot of time sitting. Bring a good book or you can view one of the movies from my DVD collection... or bring one of your own. Bring something to snack on if you would like. I usually order out for lunch and we take a break for lunch when it looks like it will take most the day. Oh, and we do have a soda machine for your convenience.

Just weeks before Michael Jackson had hoped to resurrect his career, with a fully sold out series shows in London, The king of POP Michael Jackson has died of a cardiac arrest, aged 50.

Michael Jackson had been rushed to UCLA hospital in a deep coma earlier this morning after suffering a severe cardiac arrest, at his home. Paramedics first on the scene found that he was not breathing and rushed him to hospital, while administering CPR on transit. Michael Jackson was officially pronounced dead at the hospital three hours later.

Michael Jackson’s fan’s are now gathering outside UCLA Medical Centre to pay their respects and mourn the loss of the King of POP.

The LA Coroner has already confirmed his death.

Lieutenant Fred Corral told Media, Michael Jackson was pronounced dead at 2:26pm (7.26am) LA local time after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest.

Lieutenant Fred Corral said “I can tell you at this time that we were notified by West Los Angeles Police Department detectives that Michael Jackson was transported to the hospital, and upon admitting, he was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at approximately 2:26 this afternoon,”.

Lieutenant Fred Corral said an autopsy would “most likely” be carried out tomorrow but would not speculate on the exact cause of death.

“Everything is still ongoing. We will be responding to the hospital to move Mr Jackson to our facility where he will be examined to determine the cause of death,” Lieutenant Fred Corral said.

”At that point, as I said, there’s no further medical history until we get and review the medical records.”

Michael Jackson, who has been preparing for a London comeback tour, was rushed to the UCLA Medical Centre shortly before 12.30pm

Chemotherapy can be just plain wicked. This is the time in your life when you can be as selfish as you like and shouldn't feel the least bit guilty. Some of the things you have to look forward to, is nausea, vomiting, hair loss, immune problems and trying to maintain your health. Not easy when the last thing you want to do is eat or drink.

I want to discuss that you have a right to be selfish. I lived with my two children in the Northern Woods of Minnesota when I was undergoing Chemotherapy. During the first couple of treatments my dear parents had driven out from California to help. I had just had a double mastectomy for breast cancer, to be honest I was scared. I appreciated their coming to help me very much. Shortly before my third treatment they had to head back home, since the first two treatments weren't too bad I wasn't to worried. Since it was just myself and my two children and we lived a long ways from civilization I was kind of hoping to find someone that could take my daughter for a couple nights. So I called a parent of a friend of my daughters, who frequently stayed with us when her parents had things they needed to do. I asked, they said no. In the same breath they asked me if their daughter could spend a couple days with us. Being the soft hearted wimp that I am, said yes. Dumb. Now I had three kids, and she was one wild kid! Be selfish! You don't need the additional stress at this time. Many times stress is what causes the nausea in the first place.

The next morning I headed into town with three kids in tow. I had to sit for four hours while the quartet of chemo drugs dripped into my neck. The oncologist's nurse was one sweet person. She allowed me to rent movies on the way in to the clinic to play on their VCR. This helped dramatically to reduce the anxiety of waiting through the treatment. The four hours passed and we started the long drive back to our house. On the way home I knew this treatment was not going to be as kind as the other two. I felt awful. I made it home in time to spend the next three days praying to the porcelain god every five minutes. No exaggeration. If nothing was in my stomach to come up. The dry heaves started in. That feels worse that just vomiting. So I would drink water, lots of water. The entire time I had kids running amuck. My son being the oldest and one compassionate kid, tried to help me as much as he could. After three days he knew I had to eat something. Trying to convince me was not easy. He laid next to me in bed. He asked me over and over again what I felt like. (He meant to eat) The answer he got was not the answer he wanted. I answered like s--t! Finally he said do you feel like something hot or cold. I answered cold. Pudding he asked? NO! Tapioca? NO! I got it! I feel like a cold shower. After the shower I knew I had to eat something. My son triggered something with the cold idea. Hmmm. I feel like Raspberry sherbet. Of course my teenage son answered back, ha, you don't look like a raspberry sherbet. To weak to chase kid down. I just looked into his kind, sweet, devilish eyes and said, were going to town! My son informs me I shouldn't try to drive. I inform him he is too young to drive. So we take the forest service road into town. The most we ever saw on this road was an occasional bear or deer. We bought a BIG tub of raspberry sherbet. In the next couple days I ate the whole thing.

Before you begin treatment.

Find out what you can about the chemotherapy drugs the Oncologist will combine and what the after effects will be. Now you take each reaction, one by one and see what you can find out to reduce or eliminated each side effect.

Hair loss
I had long blond hair. The first thing I learned, the less you stress the hair, the least likely you will lose all of it. I bought a satin pillow case, hair glides across pillow easier. I cut my hair short, less breakage or pulling when brushed.. I learned to wash it gently, wash with a nozzle or shower, don't rub at it. In the end I had some hair loss, but not much. Buy a pretty scarf, just in case!

Nutrition
Have multi vitamins on hand and take a couple a day. (Please discuss the vitamins usage with your oncologist first) Keep nutritious food on hand that you think you might like. Don't stop by a store right after a chemotherapy treatment. I will explain that shortly.

Drink plenty of fluids
The hot/cold question had a lot of merit. Have both on hand. Beef broth, chicken broth, or veggie broth and what ever else you might like. Cold foods, Popsicles, pudding, custard, and other foods you might enjoy. Keeping your fluid intake up is important but difficult to do. Popsicles or juice bars work wonders.

Immune system
Your immune system is shot after chemotherapy. Avoid crowded places. Keep clean. Wash your hands after everywhere you go, and after everything you touch. Your rectum has a tendency to burn, bleed or ulcerate. Before your first treatment buy Tucks or a similar product at the drugstore and use them to wipe yourself after toilet paper.

Foods and odors
Avoid spicy, strong foods. Avoid strong odors. Don't touch, smell, look at, or eat, your favorite food the entire time you are having chemo because you might never want to eat it again. This is the reason you never go into a store right after a chemotherapy session. My parents drove me to my first treatment. After the treatment they asked if I would mind dropping by the grocery store. I felt pretty good, so we stopped. The second I stepped foot into the store I was overwhelmed with the smell of onions. It smelled like I was in the middle of an onion field. I will NOT eat an onion to this very day. A few other occasions I noticed, for a day or two after a chemo treatment, that some things overwhelmed my since of smell. I had loved licorice. After the second treatment we stopped at a candy store. Walked in the door and the smell of licorice hit me dead in the nose. If there is something you really like and want to ever like it again, don't go near it, eat it or smell it during the entire course of chemotherapy.

Things that will help you out
Avoid aromas by eating meals cold or at room temperature.
Have someone else cook for you so you can avoid kitchen odors.
Eat several small meals instead of three large meals.
Try shakes or liquid nutritional supplements Keep them cold, it helps the flavor.
Drink small sips of Ginger Ale.
Suck or chew ice chips.
If you do have a serious bout with nausea, start introducing foods very slowly.

Summary
Surviving the ordeal of Chemotherapy is a little bit easier if you prepare yourself ahead of time. It is much easier if you have the support of family and friends. Hair Care Shampoo Basics & Hair Tips

Due to the ongoing introductions of the latest and greatest hair care products, hair consumers have developed some misconceptions about the basics of shampoo.

Although modern day shampoo products may promise to achieve a wide range of benefits from fattening strands to adding color or changing texture, the key component of shampoo is quite simple.

That component is to clean the scalp and the attached tresses.

It has been the primary requirement of shampoo since it was first created.

Shampoo Basic Requirements
The basic shampoo requirements include:

-The ability to cleanse hair of oils, sebum, debris and dirt
-Should work equally well in all types of water from hard to soft to well
-Should be gentle enough not to irritate eyes, skin or scalp.
-The ability to leave the hair in the basic condition it was in before the shampoo was applied. In other words, not damage the hair in any way by applying shampoo.

It is important to have a basic understanding of how shampoo is created.

No discussion of the action of shampoos and how they function to cleanse the hair and scalp can be meaningful unless a study is made of the shampoo molecule.

Shampoo formulas are composed of a series of large, specially treated molecules. Each molecule consists of both a head and a tail section designed to handle specific cleansing functions.

The tails of the shampoo molecule attracts dirt, debris, grime, grease and oil but repels water. The head attracts water but repels dirt. The two heads work together in unison to clean the hair.

The Basic Shampoo Cycle
The shampoo cycle first starts with the hair as it becomes dirty.

The scalp naturally excretes sebum or natural oils. The oils flow from the top of the head down the length of the hair. As the hair becomes oily, those oils, which are sticky and greasy cling to the surface of the strands. These greasy strands attract dust, debris and other types of foreign matter.

Because of the sebum and natural hair oils, plain water can not easily clean the hair because water molecules alone are unable to pull dirt from the cuticle.

This is why shampoo contains a tail embedded with the ability to attract dirt, grease, oil, grime and debris to it. In essence the tail molecules of the shampoo will suck up the dirt from the surface of the hair.

Importance Of Massaging Shampoo To Activate Tail Molecules
To activate the tail molecules, the shampoo formula must be massaged into the scalp and hair. This insures that the shampoo's tail molecules can be brought into direct contact with all the oily, dirty, grimy substances and vacuum them out. The action of massaging the shampoo into the hair and scalp will cause grease, oils and dirt, as they are sucked up by the tails and roll up into small blobs.

If an excess of shampoo is used, the formula will seep into what is known as imbrications that cover the strands. This can cause excessive tangling, matting, tearing and dryness. This is especially true with shampoo formulas that are alkaline.

As currents of warm water runs over the top of the shampoo covered hair, the water literally washes away the blobs of dirt and grease that the heads of the shampoo molecules have sucked up from the surface of the strands. Foreign matter captured by the tails are removed only during the rinse stage of cleansing.

Excess Shampoo Challenges
Excess shampoo molecules that haven't been utilized to remove dirt and debris are less easily removed from the hair shaft. This is why hair that is not rinsed properly will become coated with the excess shampoo.

Continued rinsing is essential to completely clean the hair of all leftover shampoo.

The amount of time required to rinse shampoo from the hair is greatly reduced when less shampoo is initially applied.

This is why my ongoing theory of "less is more" when it comes to shampoo procedures is so important. It is always better to not use enough shampoo than too much shampoo.

It is also know that excess swelling of the cuticles is prevented by acid, soap less shampoos.

This kit is virtually foolproof, even for complete hair color novices. Depending on how large the chunks of hair are that you plan to highlight, you can opt to do the job with or without the included cap. Larger chunks of hair are more difficult to pull through the cap's holes; if you have a helping hand or are experienced enough to do it yourself, consider using sheets of highlighting foil instead. These will allow you to highlight large sections of hair without subjecting your scalp to any stress.

If, however, you do want to achieve thinner highlights, don't hesitate to use the cap. As with other at-home hair color products, simply mix the powder and developer together to create the highlighting blend. Use the applicator to brush it through as many or as few strands as you wish, making sure to separate the strands of hair prior to brushing the mixture through. Leave the mixture on your hair for the designated amount of time, then rinse and condition hair as normal.

Before visiting your salon for a hair color makeover, it's always great to learn some technical lingo, so that you know what to ask for and understand what's going on!

Highlights and Lowlights
These are both essentially the same technique. A weave of hair is colored, but made either lighter or darker. The thinner the strands of highlighter hair, the more natural the look will be. If this is your first time, it's best to start off with really subtle highlights, so that the change is not too overwhelming. If you are happy with the results, experiment with either slightly chunkier or darker or lighter lights for different effects.

Color Slices
These will give a bolder, more defined look and a less natural-looking result, but if you want to make a real style statement and stand out, this is the technique for you. You could initially try some bold, semi-permanent slices that will wash out after a few shampoo applications.

Halo Lights
These are highlights, but not in the traditional sense. The term refers to the placement of the highlights – usually in a T-shaped section on the top of the hair. This creates a flattering glow around the face and it's a great way to 'lift' your style.

Dip-dyeing
Inspired by the art of dip-dyeing clothes, this is where just the very ends of your hair are colored with either subtle or vibrant tones. For dramatic results, go for contrasting color like red ends on dark brown hair.

Block Color
This is an all-over color, from roots to ends. Often has a toner on top to remove or add warmth to the hair, as one color can appear 'flat'.
